SOLAR HUB

Transforming public lighting into smart infrastructure

SOLAR HUB is a project developed by SIARQ that demonstrates how traditional urban infrastructure can become a strategic asset for the city. Based on public lighting, SOLAR HUB proposes a new way of understanding urban lighting: not only as an essential service, but as a smart, sustainable and multifunctional platform serving mobility and urban management.

The project integrates efficient lighting with energy generation through a 360º solar panel designed to maximize solar capture in real urban environments. This approach reduces energy consumption, increases system resilience and supports the transition toward more sustainable city models without the need for major construction works or additional infrastructure.

SOLAR HUB goes beyond energy efficiency. Each light point becomes a smart urban node capable of collecting environmental and meteorological data in real time. This information, managed through a digital IoT platform, allows public administrations to better understand what is happening in the city and make data-driven decisions, especially in areas such as mobility, air quality and urban planning.

With a high level of technological maturity and several years of operation in public spaces, SOLAR HUB is a real example of how innovation can be applied in a practical and scalable way. The project demonstrates that urban transformation does not necessarily require adding new layers of infrastructure, but rather reimagining and evolving what already exists, turning public lighting into a key tool for the cities of today and tomorrow.
